Are you curious about what it takes to create a Passive House? It’s more than just sketches and approvals – it’s a journey of creativity, collaboration, and precision!
1. Sketch Design – We start with your vision, balancing the client brief, budget, site conditions, solar access, and our knowledge of Passive House design to make sure we’re on track to achieve Passive House standards.
2. Thermal Modeling – This is where the magic happens! We fine-tune window sizes, shading, and positioning while identifying any challenges. It’s an essential step for optimising the design’s thermal performance and ensuring all energy efficiency targets are met.
3. Development Application & Approval – By this stage, we’ve already run the Passive House Planning Package (PHPP), which gives us an even clearer picture of how energy-efficient your home will be. In NSW, the PHPP can even contribute to your BASIX certification!
4. Construction Certificate & Drawings – At this stage, the PHPP is almost complete and we have all crucial junctions detailed and resolved. Builders are equipped with precise documentation, ensuring they know exactly what to expect during construction. This minimises surprises and ensures the design aligns seamlessly with the Passive House standards.
Teamwork Makes the Dream Work!
In the Passive House world, builders often join the process early on and we love this! They help refine details, provide budget clarity, and ensure everything is on track to turn your dream into reality. We know this is not always possible or it just doesen’t happen, but we try our best to establish this connection from a very early stage for the benefit of the whole project.
The Passive House approach isn’t just about building a house; it’s about creating a healthier, sustainable, and collaborative process that brings everyone together for a holistic outcome.
