Minnehaha House

Nestled in the heart of the bush near the stunning Minnehaha Falls, this home has been designed to meet both Passive House and BAL-FZ bushfire protection standards, offering year-round comfort, safety, and sustainability.

The design embraces passive solar principles, with expansive north-facing openings that welcome natural light and warmth into the open plan kitchen, dining, and living spaces. A generous outdoor entertaining deck extends the living area into the landscape, making the most of the site’s orientation and breathtaking views of the adjacent hanging swamp.

Inside, the home includes four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a separate WC, and a laundry, all arranged to ensure privacy, ease of movement, and connection between spaces. A dedicated services room houses the mechanical ventilation with heat recovery (HRV) system, a key component of Passive House performance.

Rainwater harvesting is integrated into the design, supporting sustainability and self-sufficiency, while a thoughtfully placed pond adds beauty and tranquillity—visible from both the main living area and the master bedroom.

The pitched roofline and symmetrical layout enhance the home’s visual harmony and functionality, making it ideal for a growing family. A carefully considered landscape plan supports bushfire resilience with a maintainable Asset Protection Zone (APZ), allowing the home to sit comfortably within its natural surroundings.
